Birthday Fun

Gabrielle Here:

Tuesday was my birthday and I turned thirty-seven, which means I was born in 1980. I always liked being born that year, because it made doing the age-math easier. In 1987, I was seven-years-old. In 1989, I was nine. In 1990, I was ten. And in the year 2000, I was twenty.

But I digress...to celebrate my birthday, I'd love to give something away! I was blessed with a wonderful birthday, filled with many of my favorite people and things, so I wanted to pass along the blessing to one of my friends here.

I'll send the winner a signed copy of one of my books, winner's choice. Just enter the Rafflecopter below for your chance to win. *US Residents Only.

I love birthdays--mine and others. I've even been known to tell random strangers it's my birthday... :)

Your Turn: When is your birthday? Do you enjoy birthdays, or do you prefer to ignore them?

  1. How fun! We share the same birthday! And like you, I loved that I was born at the beginning of a decade...although mine was 1960...this made keeping track of my age was easy (it gets harder the older we get...lol). I love to celebrate others birthdays, and I enjoy being recognized on my own. One of my love languages is gifts...giving and receiving. Anyway, hope you had a wonderful birthday. Mine was fun. (my brother's was the day before ours and my step-sister's was the day after; our grandson's 1st birthday is today - busy birthday week for us).

    1. Happy Belated Birthday, Barbara! Love finding birthday buddies. :) My sister's birthday is the day after ours, and my dad's is a week later, so we have lots to celebrate, too--though not as many and so close as you. Thanks for stopping by to visit!

    2. My birthday is 1956. Just a few years older than you. Hehehe.
Actually our Youngest was born in 1981.
I'm glad each year I turn another older. It's better than the alternative. Right! Would love to win one of your books.

    3. Judy, you were born the same year as my parents. :) And I'm glad about aging, too, for the exact reason you gave. :) Thanks for stopping by!

  2. I was also born in 1980 and loved it for the same reason! I love birthdays! Mine is May 27th, which almost always falls on Memorial Day weekend. I ends up getting to celebrate the whole time, which is fun! Glad you had such a nice day!

  3. Remember the old coffee table books laid out for inspiration and visitors but seldom opened? These wonderful Barbour Romance Collections are not so...
My birthday is May 30th, the real Memorial Day. I always thought the parade carrying the little flags was for me! I even celebrate November 30th, my happy half-birthday! Love your stories. Kathleen ~ Lane Hill House

    1. I had never heard of half-birthdays until I met my husband, whose birthday is December 27th. He always points out his half-birthday in the middle of summer. :) Thank you for the kind words about my stories. I love the Barbour novella collections. They're beautiful and functional. :)

  4. My b day is 09/15! I have 2 children born in the 80's and 2 born in the 90's! I enjoy having birthdays! One of my favorites was when I turned 50 my best friend and boyfriend gave me a party! The best part was seeing family and friends I hadn't seen for quite some time! I hope your birthday was fantastic! Tami Naslund

    1. Those kinds of birthdays are the best, when it brings all your favorite people together. My mother-in-law still talks about her 40th, when her sister found a box of her high school clothes and did a fashion show for everyone.

  5. My birthday was Monday! I was born in '73 so a few years older and not do easy to calculate.

I enjoy birthdays, but as I get older there usually is a little less celebrating going on. This year just dinner out with my husband.

    1. Happy belated birthday, Patty! Yes, the older we get, the less we tend to celebrate--so I'm trying to reverse that trend. We went out to a restaurant with several friends last Friday evening to celebrate my birthday (there were twelve of us, I believe) and then we found karaoke and sang for the rest of the evening. It was so much fun! But, I'd enjoy spending dinner out with my hubby, just as much as sharing it with others.

  6. My birthday is 10/26, but it is more fun to celebrate my son's birthday a week earlier on 10/19. I like to go out to dinner or something but it is not a big deal if we stay in either. I just love being with all my boys on my birthday! Happy Birthday!

    1. Thank you! I've always loved my spring birthday, but my mom's is in October, and we always celebrate at a state park with all the beautiful leaves turning colors and the nip in the air--that's an awesome time for a birthday, as well.

  13. Happy Birthday! I understand what you mean about the easy birthday math. My daughter was born in 1990 which makes her age easy to remember (then I just subtract six for my son and add or subtract from her age to keep track of the ages of my nephews and nieces). I think birthdays are fun but I've had so many that I don't like to even think about how old I am!

  14. These days I tend to ignore birthdays (at least mine anyway)! I am 10 years older than you Gabrielle, born August 9th, 1970. So yea, I agree with the date being easy to calculate my age :-) Math has never been my strong suit, lol!

I do love to celebrate other peoples birthdays, I like being part of their special day and bringing smiles to their faces! So a great BIG happy birthday to you, my dear author friend :-) I hope you have an especially blessed day <3

  19. Happy Belated Birthday! My birthday is in the heat of late summer, so we usually don't do anything special outdoors, which would really be my preference for a picnic or state park outing or something simple like that.

  22. I'm glad you had a wonderful birthday.
My birthday is 10/10, easy to remember. I'm a bit older than you, though. My child was born in 1988.
I loved how your daughter decorated your window with your age! I always forget how old I am, my daughter started making me signs that said Happy Birthday Mom! You are __ years old. She put them on the bathroom mirror and my bedroom door. After a couple of years she saved the signs and just crossed out the numbers to add new ones. When she got married and moved away, I asked her "How will I know how old I am now?"
Thanks for the giveaway! I think I'm missing one of your books.
