1,000+ Facebook Followers!

I've been having a blast this week celebrating on my Author Facebook Page. Last week I reached over 1,000 likes, so this week I'm thanking all my fans by giving away one surprise gift each day!

I had so much fun trying to figure out what to give. I finally decided on my novella collections for Monday and Tuesday, my favorite stevia-sweetened chocolate Wednesday, and my favorite drink (iced tea!) today. (Shh...don't tell Jaime and Anne. I've heard a rumor that they like coffee better.) On Friday, I'm giving away a basket full of these items, and extending a special invitation. If you aren't a Facebook fan, I'd love for you to stop by and click like so you're entered in the big drawing for Friday!

It blesses me to surprise someone, especially when they least expect it. I know I enjoy getting a treat out of the blue. One of my favorites was a letter my husband and I received from an anonymous writer during Lent.

I felt (and continue to feel) unworthy of this letter. But it brought me to tears knowing we've impacted someone's life in a positive way.

That's how I want my readers to feel. You positively impact my life in so many ways. I could not follow this dream without you! I hope and pray I can convey my appreciation to you daily.

In the spirit of surprise giving, I'd love to offer a special gift here today, as well. Enter the Rafflecopter below, and if you're name is chosen, you'll get a fun surprise gift in the mail from me! I'll announce the winner next Thursday.

Thank you, from the bottom of my writer heart. :) I hope we have a long and happy friendship.

Your Turn: Have you ever received a surprise gift? Have you ever given one?

    1. A surprise gift. I gave a momma an anonymous money gift in a card sent to her with no return address saying to spend it on what she normally wouldn't buy for herself like perfume. Leaving on a cold wintery day, we were parked next to each other at church. I rolled down my window and asked if they had a nice Christmas? Her little girl bounced on her seat with a wide grin and an affirmative. This happened many years ago, with this little girl now being a mommy too. How wonderful that felt to follow through on the Holy Spirit's nudging. Kathleen ~ Lane Hill House lanehillhouse[at]centurylink[dot]net ~ A surprise gift for me? A surprise birthday party with friends arriving in the front door while my husband and I were gardening in our back yard. The only puzzler that almost gave it away, was a friend coming out and asking how much coffee to put in to make a pot of coffee?

    2. Thank you for liking our Facebook pages already, Kathleen! Hopefully you were still able to enter the Rafflecopter. And thank you for these wonderful stories!! What a great way to start my day. :) I love surprise parties. My husband threw one for my 29th birthday (I had once mentioned I'd rather celebrate the 29th and not the 30th) and that was a good thing, because my 30th birthday fell four weeks after I gave birth to my twin boys and I was in no position for a surprise party! :)

  2. I did receive a surprise gift in the mail recently. One of my Facebook friends and I have really gotten to know each other well. We pray for each other and share about our families. She sent me a beautiful angel that she made just to brighten my day. It is prominently displayed on my mantle . It was a treasure to receive it and I smile when I look at it.

    1. What a lovely gift, Deana, and so thoughtful! Friends like that are a gift from God in and of themselves, aren't they? How nice that you found and another. One of my online author friends, who I've never met in person, has sent me gifts and cards just at the right moment over the years. Like you, I display them prominently so I can be reminded of their love and friendship. :)

  3. I love surprise gifts! Themost memorable ones are when my students bring me little things - especially Reese's!!! - for no reason at all. I feel so loved when they do this!!

    1. Oooohhh...Reese's! One of my very favorite candies. :) Isn't it fun when people find out what you love and then bring it to you to brighten your day? When I was in high school, one of my classmates had a list of everyone's favorite soda pop, and every morning during our first class, she would have four or five bottles of pop on her desk, putting streamers on them, and then deliver them to the office so the secretary could call down the students who had a birthday (to receive their favorite pop). So, on her birthday, I had everyone I could think of bring her Diet Coke for her birthday. That day she had hundreds of bottles and cans of Diet Coke delivered to the office!! It was so fun to see her haul it out with a grin on her face. :)

  4. I, too, love surprise gifts. I remember giving a good friend a Origami Owl charm of her favorite hobby when I was placing an order for myself. When she received it, I was happy because she was happy. I've gotten a few surprise gifts in the past and those are the best.

    1. What a neat idea, Rebecca! That way, she could carry it around with her all the time. Not only was it what she loved to do, but it was a good reminder of your friendship, as well. How wonderful. :)

  5. I don't get many if any surprise gifts. I love getting books in the mail whether I've ordered them or won them in a contest. Books rule!

    1. Books do rule!! I didn't start getting them free in the mail until I started making writing friends, but now I get them all the time, and I've been known to squeal in delight by my mailbox. :) One time, I didn't see my neighbor weeding her flowerbeds near the mailbox until AFTER the aforementioned squeal. We were both surprised at that moment!! :)

    1. How thoughtful of your friend, Deanna! I hope you have/had fun spending it!! Our local Christian radio station is always encouraging people to do Acts of Spirit (they're Spirit 92.9), which could be paying for the food in the car behind you in the drive thru, or paying for someone's gas before they walk in to pay--anything you can think of. Sending a gift card is a great idea, too! I'm happy you enjoy our blog. It's a day brightener for me, too! We ❤️ our readers here.

  10. I love to give surprise gifts to people. All very simple things - small, but meaningful at least to me. And to receive a surprise is also a blessing. Congrats on 1000 likes on FB!

    1. Sometimes the more simple the surprise gift, the better. It's the meaningful things that are the most fun to give and receive, and they don't have to be extravagant. The love behind the gift is what makes them priceless. :)

  13. You always have the sweetest posts, Gabrielle. I just imagine how you are in person and it makes me smile.

One thing that I have tried to make a point in doing is sharing with friends, family and sometimes a stranger (if the situation calls for it) how they have blessed my life or the joy they overflow onto me. I feel like I have had many missed opportunities in my lifetime to communicate those words and I don't want to miss any others. I, honestly, feel like I am more blessed than those that I speak love over. Have a beautiful day, Gabrielle and congrats on all of your FB love.

    1. Your post here made me smile, too, Terrill. :) Thank you for your kind words. I love, love, love your attitude of thanksgiving and appreciation. When we're thankful, it truly does make us realize how blessed we are. Missing an opportunity to tell someone, whether we know them intimately, or we've just passed them on the street, can fill us with regret. Everyone wins when we have an attitude of gratitude! Thank you for this important reminder. The best gifts in life are free. :)

    1. Virginia, that's wonderful. Sometimes I think there are angels in disguise among us. And sometimes we get to be the angels in disguise. :) I love looking for opportunities to bless strangers--and I've been so blessed by people I didn't know. This is a wonderful thing to keep in mind when we're out and about.

  15. I just want to say thank you to all of you for everything that you do!! I look forward to every post. Your words have made me laugh, made me cry, but most of all they've drawn me closer to Jesus from the moment I signed up. I just hope that I get to give you each a huge hug in person someday! Love you all!!

    1. Oh, Abby! Your words mean so much to me (and I think I can speak on behalf of the others, too). :) We wouldn't have a blog if we didn't have readers, so you guys are the real heroes on this site. We appreciate all of you so much. You're our community and we have laughed and cried and been drawn closer to Jesus because of you, too. Isn't that amazing? The Body of Christ has been designed to uplift and encourage one another. What a wonderful Lord we follow. Thank you for being here. I can't wait for that huge hug!!

  16. For Christmas one year my now husband, then fiancé bought me a lovely heart necklace. I think he spent more on it than on my ring! It was certainly a surprise...

I like to think I am an observant person, and my husband is the kind of guy who won't buy anything for himself... so I like to surprise him every once in a while with something I know he needs or wants=)

Now husband, then boyfriend in college, also bought me a heart shaped locket for Christmas one year. It meant so much, and still does. It's wonderful when we can reciprocate and get them things that mean a lot to them. :) Thanks for sharing, Patty!
