I was pleased to have an opportunity to host a new-to-me author here on the blog. I know we typically do these on Fridays, but Carrie Stuart Parks came to my rescue this week as I'm on a deadline to finish this book I'm writing. So, please enjoy getting to know Carrie and if you have a chance, breathe up a prayer that inspiration strikes and I can get the last few chapters written this week.
What inspired your latest story idea?
The story comes out of the work I did on the Yates serial killing case, the Phineas Priesthood bombings, and as the courtroom artist for the Aryan Nations case.
What is your favorite characteristic about your story’s hero and heroine?
Her sense of humor.
Please tell us about the spiritual theme of your story you hope every reader is challenged by:
The theme is the universal need for forgiveness, not for the sake of the person who has wronged you, but for your sake. Holding on to hurts, slights, anger, rage, and pain isn’t healthy. Colossians 3:13. ‘Bear with each other and forgive whatever grievances you may have against one another. Forgive as the Lord forgave you.’
Jaime & Anne are coffee addicts. Erica & Gabrielle are tea lovers. What about you? Coffee or Tea?
COFFEE!!! But tea on a cold winter afternoon.
Favorite historical movie? Or mini-series?
Hmmm. I don’t watch mini-series. One of my favorite movies about a real person in history is “My Left Foot”
While Jaime loves to take selfies, and Erica and Gabrielle love museums, Anne loves Pinterest and food pics. Share a food pic, a favorite family recipe, or link us to your latest pin on Pinterest.
My character can only make tuna noodle casserole with potato chip topping…
Always wanted to be an author? Or surprised your path led you to publish?
Stunned at being published in fiction.
Favorite century to read? To write? To watch on TV or in a movie?
Favorite heroine of all time, and why?
Oh, wow. Right now I have to stick with Gwen Marcey, the character I created. I guess I chose her because I’ve spent so much time with her and haven’t grown tired of her yet. She always surprises me.
And tell us about your book! :)
A killer with a penchant for torture has taken notice of forensic expert Gwen Marcey . . . and her
When Gwen Marcey’s dog comes home with a human skull and then leads her to a cabin in the woods near her Montana home, she realizes there’s a serial killer in her community. And when she finds a tortured young girl clinging to life on the cabin floor, she knows this killer is a lunatic.
Yet what unsettles Gwen most is that the victim looks uncannily like her daughter.
The search for the torturer leads back in time to a neo-Nazi bombing in Washington state—a bombing with only one connection to Montana: Gwen. The group has a race-not-grace model of salvation . . . and they’ve marked Gwen as a race traitor.
When it becomes clear that the killer has a score to settle, Gwen finds herself in a battle against time. She will have to use all of her forensic skills to find the killer before he can carry out his threat to destroy her—and the only family she has left.
