Time to Celebrate!!!!!

My nephew, Andrew (7) is somewhere behind this sparkler.

It's time to celebrate!

After what seemed to me to be a ridiculously long drought between contracts, (just over 2 years) I'm THRILLED to announce that I've experienced a change in the writing weather patterns. Back in April of this year, I wrote a guest post for Seekerville, one of my favorite blogs for writers, about what to do when that next contract doesn't come and doesn't come and doesn't come. You can find the blog post HERE.

A mere TWO weeks after that post aired, I received the wonderful news from my lovely agent, Rachelle Gardner of Books and Such Literary Management that we had sold a novella! SQUEE! "A Palace On the Plains" will debut in The Homestead Brides Collection from Barbour Publishing February 1st, 2015 (And EEP! I just learned that this collection is available for pre-order at amazon.com! You can find it by clicking HERE.)

Joy, excitement, relief! More excitement. I was off the schnied!!!

Then, another thing happened!!! I received word from my publisher, Barbour Publishing, that they were releasing my last three Heartsong novels in one book called Colorado Dawn, which would be available December 1st of this year, just in time for Christmas. SQUEE, SQUEE! (This title, too, is available for pre-order through amazon by clicking HERE.)

One of my favorite book covers ever! So beautiful!

Then, as if those two weren't enough, Rachelle phoned me to say we'd sold a trade-length novel! SQUEE!! SQUEE!! SQUEE!!!! THE CACTUS CREEK CHALLENGE will release from Barbour Publishing July 2015. I'm super excited about this story. It was so much fun to write. I'm currently in the final polishing stages of this one before I turn it in to my editor.

My daughter's favorite celebration picture for my blogs. :D

Things couldn't get any better, could they? That's what I thought, until last Friday when I got MORE NEWS! TWO more of my novellas had been chosen for inclusion in TWO MORE collections!! WHAT????? CRAZY!!!! "The Archaeologist's Find" (thank you, Jaime for help brainstorming titles for this one) will appear in The Eligible Bachelors Collection, and "A Bride for Bear" will appear in The Convenient Brides Collection in the summer and fall of 2015.

PAR-TAY

God's timing is perfect...not just sorta good, not mostly beneficial, and certainly not random. His timing is perfect. I am praising Him for this opportunity to do what I love. The most important thing I'm learning is to praise him in the drought and in the flood, in the sunshine and in the rain, in the time of waiting and in the time of fulfillment.

To celebrate this wonderful news and all the lessons God is teaching me, I'm giving away a 10$ amazon gift card to one reader. All you have to do is share with me one bit of recent good news that you've gotten recently and share the link to this blog on Facebook or Twitter or via email to a friend. Be sure to include in your comment where you shared the link.

  2. My father in law was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago. The doctors said there wasn't anything else they can do for him. We refused to believe that. With lots of stress, determination, and prayer, he is back to normal. PTL!! That's our great news!
Congratulations, Erica, on your good news!

  3. Congrats Erica!
Last week we were able to rejoice in the news that my husband's cousin's little boy was able to go home from the hospital. Little Branden had been hit by a vehicle in June and had been in the children's hospital in Madison since then.

    2. Yay for little Branden. That's such a long time in the hospital, so many prayers, so much worry and stress while he mended. I'm so glad he's getting better, and thank you for sharing the post on FB.

  4. Congratulations, Erica!!!! I recently learned that I double-finaled in Romancing the Lakes Writing Contest (through the Minnesota chapter of RWA)!! I'll learn soon if I won with either story. My agent is on vacation this week, so we haven't had time to talk details about other things...waiting for her to return before I share any other news. :)

    1. :D :D :D Thank you so much for celebrating with me. It's hard to be patient and wait when you don't know when the desired result will come. But God knew best for me. He knew that I couldn't deal with these deadlines if I was still homeschooling or chasing the kid from basketball game to basketball game this fall. Now my schedule is free for writing! :D

  10. I'm thrilled for your, Erica! You weathered the drought. Now it's raining contracts. I hope you've done some serious celebrating.

I went three years between contracts, so I can empathize. Now I have a short story coming out in Guideposts' A Cup of Christmas Cheer collection releasing in October, and my first Love Inspired Historical will hit the shelves in 2015.

    YAY!

    SO excited for you, Erica!

Good news? Um, nothing nearly so exciting on the writing front [though I'm hoping for something of some kind soon - either contract or otherwise]. On a more "personal"??? front - all of my kids bettered their swim times this year - and none were DQd for anything [even the 6yo who can only get DQd if he quits - but he didn't no matter how much he wanted to at times :)].

  15. Congratulations! I always enjoy your books. Am wondering about how one goes about getting novella's included in anthologies? Maybe a post sometime on that would be helpful to writers. Just an idea.
My good news is that my current book "Christmas, Interrupted" has just finished content AND line edits - am just waiting on a cover. It will be coming out in the fall or winter of this year.
I will share this blog post with several friends via email!

    1. Hi, Donna, in my case, an editor contacted my agent with an idea for an anthology, my agent contacted me, I put together a proposal, my agent submitted it, and it was chosen. Sometimes I know authors get together and propose an anthology, sometimes an agent gathers a handful of his/her clients together and works up a proposal. Novella anthologies can come about in a variety of ways.

      Congratulations on another book!

  16. Oh my goodness! Congrats, congrats, congrats!!! That is so fabulous. :) As for good news, on the writing front I also have a three in one releasing in October. :) On the family front, we recently had to purchase a new-to-us vehicle and our neighbor managed to sell our old 200,000 plus mileage van to a friend of his for way more money than we would have gotten in trade-in or in tax write-off if we had donated it. :)

  18. Congratulations!! (And it's so uplifting to look through all the other comments and see the good news others are excited about too!) We've had some recent good news for our family - my parents will be coming for a visit at Christmas! I know it's months away, but I'm excited already! Also we are being blessed with the use of a friend's timeshare for our summer vacation and the use of another friend's cabin for a getaway later in the fall. So thankful for these friends that have made it affordable for us to have some vacation time at very low cost to us, in a year that we didn't think we'd get any vacation at all.

Oh, and I tweeted the blog link. :-)

  20. Congrats, Erica - so happy for you!! I think you weathered and learned God's lesson on timing so well that He's giving you extra blessings - never hurts to post on Seekerville either (LOL)!!

One of the best good news reports for me was when I was told that my cancer had not spread to my lymph nodes a couple of months ago. I'm now battling another health issue, am in a waiting period - as you were - but God is in control of this one also and will work it out to my good!!

Congrats to all the other writers/authors who commented with good news re: their writing, and Anne - keep praying and praising God (as I know you will) because God's timing in your wait is going to bring unbelievable blessings your way also!!

    ReplyDelete
  21. Thank you so much! You are such a cheerleader and encouragement.

And I'm so happy for you that your cancer had not spread. I pray that whatever else you're battling health-wise will resolve soon, and that the wait won't become too tedious or anxious. God is so much bigger than we give Him credit for, and leaning on Him ALWAYS improves our situation. :)

  28. My best news is that my father in law was in the hospital a couple of weeks ago and they wanted to put into hospice. The doctors said he wasn't getting any better and would stay in the shape he was in. The family refused hospital and continued to pray for him. They sent him and he's now stronger than he was before going to the hospital.
