Psalm 23

by permission: www.freedigitalphotos.net
A Psalm of David...the 23rd

The Lord is my shepherd;
I shall not want.

He makes me to lie down in green pastures;
He leads me beside the still waters.

He restores my soul;
He leads me in the paths of righteousness
For His name’s sake.

Yea, though I walk through the valley of the shadow of death,
I will fear no evil;
For You are with me;
Your rod and Your staff, they comfort me.

You prepare a table before me in the presence of my enemies;
You anoint my head with oil;
My cup runs over.

Surely goodness and mercy shall follow me
All the days of my life;
And I shall dwell in the house of the Lord
Forever, and ever.
Amen.

  2. Amen. I thought about adding more. I kept starting to write and just deleting.

  3. So familiar, and yet it loses nothing. Thanks for this little dose of serenity today, Anne!

  4. It's a lovely Psalm, but at this point in life I'm afraid I can't feel it - the opening lines of Ps 144 are more appropriate.

    But how I wish I could feel that peace, that stillness. I'm so tired.
